John 3 v16 Greatest Person

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life".               John 3 v16

Probably the most famous bible text in the world; known and memorised in every Christian church, especially by the children of the world, and easily understood by all. To be able to say it is good, but not enough, so we must study it to see all that is involved, and when we do we'll find the greatest person in existence; the greatest passion ever displayed; the greatest population ever addressed; the greatest provision ever made; the greatest potential for all mankind; the greatest plan ever devised; the greatest peril ever faced; and the greatest prospect ever offered!  If these wonderful things excite you just a little, then please stay with us while we unpack from this text, the greatest story ever told in eight simple studies.

1)   God     the greatest person in existence

isaiah 42 v9 "I am the Lord (YAHWEH), that is my name".

"YAHWEH is a diminutive term for Jehovah (in some places even smaller-Jah).   Jehovah means literally the ever existing one, comprising three separate Hebrew words: the Jews hold the name of Yahweh in such reverential fear, that they use the diminutive and unpronounceable name YHWH lest they say it wrong or use it in profanity.

Yehi....I will be      Hove.....I am      Hah yah.....I was

Literally, the ever existing one, the one who will continue to be what He is and what He always was...timeless, unchanging, and eternal.   This name occurs more than 6000 times in scripture.   He is, He was, and ever will be the Most High, The Lord of hosts, the Saviour of mankind, the provider, the healer, the banner, the sanctifier, the peacemaker, the shepherd, the righteousness, the ever present, and object of human worship, since all these attributes are synonymous with His glorious name.
Yahweh is the absolutely existing One, who simply is, who did not come into being, who does not go out of being, and who never changes in His being, because He is ABSOLUTE BEING.   He depends on nothing for His being and all else depends on Him for it's being.
His name is majestic in all the earth.   There is no place on earth where God is not Yahweh, no place in  all the universe where He is not the absolute One.   Everything else depends absolutely on Him.  He has no rivals anywhere; He has no equal anywhere; He is above all things everywhere; He sustains all things everywhere; He is the ground and the goal of all things everywhere.   He is GREATER, WISER and MORE BEAUTIFUL and WONDERFUL than all things everywhere....and all we are to worship Him.
He never had a beginning, and He never will end.
He is absolute reality, He is utterly independent.
Everything that is not God depends on Him, everything in the universe is as nothing compared to Him.
He is constant, He never changes, because He is perfect, and you do not change perfection!   He cannot be improved upon, He is not becoming anything, He is who He is, and always will be.
He is the absolute standard of truth, and goodness, and beauty.   He requires no law books to instruct Him, no guild to judge His worth, He is Himself the standard of all that is right, that is true, that is beautiful.
He does whatever He pleases and everything He does is in perfect accord with His eternal unchanging character.
All reality that is outside of Him, He created, and sustains, and governs as the Absolute reality, so that He is utterly free from any constraints that do not originate from the counsel of His own will.
He is the most important reality in all existence.   He is  more worthy of our interest and attention and admiration and enjoyment than all other realities including the entire universe.

GOD IS WHO HE IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE........"         (anonymous source)

Deep down we all believe He exists, even if we don't admit it, because the way He made us, we have Him in our being as we were made in His image.  He is the source and the subject of all in existence, and He is the fountainhead of all supplies. The only rational response is that we become God besotted, because He is the highest, noblest, the most satisfying being and worthy of our wholehearted attention.  From Him flows the life giving blessings that are contained in the text.
